We are William & Karen Pimlott 'Pimlotts Poultry'.
We have kept poultry for a number of years, in 2004 we started showing & since then our passion for poultry has grown. People think Pimlotts Poultry is a business, its not its just a hobby gone mad!!! We are market gardeners & have our own market garden buisness which we also started in 2004, taking over from Williams Mum & Dad. We grow our own seasonal produce & sell at farmers markets across the North West, details of which can be found on the 'Pimlotts HGP' ( Home Grown Produce ) page.
We have shown our poultry with considerable sucess winning at many agricultural shows & also the major shows, the Federation, Stafford & The PCGB National show, which are two of the biggest shows in the UK. We won best of breed with a Croad Langshan female & have won best bantam Faverolle for two years running, as well as other trophies & numerous cards, all with home bred birds. Since 2004 I (Karen) have gained my Poultry Club of Great Britain Judging certificate, which entitles me to judge soft feather heavy breeds at the required level. I have had several judging appointments already in 2008 & enjoyed them immensely. Also in 2008 I was asked to join part of the team as deputy editor for the Poultry Journal, a relatively new publication (subscription only) for the show enthusiast. William & I are also commite members of our local bantam society (Southport & Ormskirk), & I am also on the show commitee of the Croad Langshan Club.
Poultry has opened many doors for us, we have apperard on ITV's Grubs Up alongside TV chef Simon Rimmer, been invited to do phone-ins on Radio Lancashire, & appered in numerous poultry publications. Our birds have also been on TV with celebrities as part of one of the exhibits at the 2008 Southport Flower Show. We also visit many primary & pre-schools along with 'Hilda' the chicken, which the children love.
As one of Britains fastest growing hobbies & self sufficiancey being the growing trend, we have started in 2008 to run chicken keeping courses, which have been a huge sucess. We have introduced many people young & old to the joys of keeping poultry & had lots of positive feedback.
We are also one of Omlet 's (the Eglu people) recommended breeders we breed hybrid hens (layers) all year round. & always have them available at POL. In September/ October time we sell on our suplus pure breeds all of which we advertise on our website. We also sell hatching eggs ( for collection or through the post) subject to availabilty.
