William & I took over the produce business from Williams Mum & Dad in 2004. William is 'hands on' where as I do all the 'other stuff' from home, although I do markets.
'Market Gardeners' is our official title. We grow our own seasonal produce that we pick & weigh by hand & sell at farmers Markets across the North West.
We have large glasshouses that we grow early potatoes in, green beans, peppers, strawberries, tomatoes & cucumbers plus much more, along with occasional bedding throughout the spring & summer months.
We also have a good trade for our free range eggs, which we sell at many of the farmers markets.
William won Tamesides farmers market trader of the year in 2005, which was an honour. The awards are given out as part of the Tameside food & drink festival that are held at Dukinfield Town Hall in September every year. Our veg has been used in television commercials, and our eggs have been used by Simon Rimmer when he cooked a bread and butter pudding on ITV's grubs up.
Our eggs have won prizes as has our veg at local agricultural shows.
All our veg is hand pulled, cut, picked & packed less that 24 hours
before it is on our market stall.
